Anger.

Anger is a natural emotion. Most animals feel anger in various situations. Humans do also.

Anger and aggression are different.

Anger can be a sudden, quick reaction to a situation; or it can be a developing reaction to one or more situations over a period of time. Or it can be between those. Therapy needs to address the different angers that a person may have, where they originated and developed, then how they are affecting the client's current life - and why.

Counselling can evaluate the anger, understanding the reasons for this. Understanding the reasons help to develop behaviours so those reasons, and reactions, can be understood. That understanding can assist a person realise that in, some situations at least, anger is not the appropriate and sensible reaction.

People understand and accept that their emotions, including anger, are theirs. The emotions of anger are theirs, they are responsible for their emotions.

Anger occurs when a person wants something, which they then do not achieve. The result is frustration, anger, or resentment.

Rage is uncontrolled anger, often at an extreme level. It can blanket out other normal feelings, such as pain. It is commonly associated with illogical thinking and behaviours.

Aggression is a type of behaviour. A person can be aggressive without being angry, also angry with being aggressive.
